Many people have heard of Ayn Rand the famous writer of the past who has captured the essence and value of capitalism. I am a member of the Ayn Rand Institute, after reading a non-authorized biography book on Allan Greenspan, which said that Allan Greenspan was a fan of her works. Turns out that many of the intellectuals in business and economics also find Ayn Rand's works of value.

I would recommend that you read and I have read Anthem, Atlas Shrugged and Fountain Head and a few others. But more importantly, I built my business from scratch and had to fight tooth and nail through blobs of bureaucracy to make it so. Living as a character of an Ayn Rand novel is interesting and reading about yourself afterwards sure is an intellectual exercise.

Indeed, after building up a company and working my butt off, I saw all sides of the question of what capitalism is really about, all the while my ambitions to build a great company and wealth for myself. Our company, a franchise company, worked on setting people up in their own businesses, making vendors wealthy, raising millions for charity, increasing tax base, providing jobs, etc.

Now my advice to all is that I think everyone should read the book about J. Paul Getty, Rockefeller, Bill Gates, Carnegie and all the rest before and after and then look around at everything you see and all the gifts of our civilization before passing judgment on the Entrepreneurial Capitalists. I certainly hope this article propels thought into 2007.
